Life has been a crazy blur these past few weeks. We have ticked so many things off our to do list, most importantly being WE SOLD OUR HOUSE! Another big thing ticked off our must do list in order to begin living our nomadic family lifestyle!
A friend of mine messaged me recently to say they’ve only got 16 weeks until they leave on their trip… so I quickly worked out that we are only 5 months away from Launch Day (give or take a day)! And I know that this time is going to fly by!
The past 2 weeks have been crazy – photographing all of our furniture and listing it for sale. Can you believe that within a week, I sold about 80% of it! Still a lot of little stuff to go, but for the most part… it’s gone. I feel like I should be sad about it, but in reality it was quite a freeing experience. There are a couple of things that I’m holding onto, but you know what? It’s furniture! And after furnishing our new Unit for around $600, I’m looking forward to the challenge that will one day be refurnishing a new home if and when we return!
With the end of the month fast approaching, my commitment to the new Owners of the business draws to an end, and for the first time in a long, long time, I will wake up in the mornings and have no where to be!
So to celebrate, at 6pm on my very last day of work I am jetting off to spend the weekend with some friends in Brisbane, followed by a very long overdue holiday with my Hubby! My wonderful Sister will be caring for our kids whilst we spend two amazing weeks in Fiji – what a fantastic way to unwind.
BUT… our house settles whilst we are away, so we’ve got to have everything out before we go!
Upon returning, I have a window of about 3 days before I go into hospital for reconstruction of one of the knuckles on my left hand! It’s something that has been causing me a huge amount of pain throughout this year, which as a Cake Decorator has made life very hard. A 6 week recovery time isn’t very appealing, but at least, in time, the pain should go. The kid’s think it’s hilarious that my knew knuckle will be worth more than my Engagement Ring. My Dad thinks it’s even funnier that I’ll beep every time I go through security at an airport!! 🙂
So that takes us through till the start of November when my wonderful Father in Law will be stopping for a visit. With him in Queensland and us being so tied up with the business over the past few years, visits have been few and far between. Brody has had a fair bit to do with him over the years, but Sienna not so much. You wouldn’t know it though. Her face lights up whenever she talks to him and she is sooo excited that he is coming.
So then we are in the middle of November… only 10 weeks before Launch Day.
Only a few short weeks later, school will begin to wind down – the kids will finish and for the first time in a long, long time I will be able to be at home with them. No more day care drop offs and begging family for favours. Just long summer days of playing with our kids. I fell into business when Sienna was just 8 weeks old, so she’s never had me at home. It’s been a long time since I had true, quality time with my kids, and I can’t wait.
Christmas will follow closely and then we’ll celebrate the New Year! And what a New Year it will be. Our “stuff” might have been sold, but our new adventure will only just be beginning!
